time for change
update – I’ve gone ahead and changed to a basic theme due to more problems with K2. This theme will be temporary.
K2 was great while it lasted. It’s a very complex theme, and I don’t know enough (nor do I have the time) to keep it going strong. If you use Internet Explorer, you’ll notice the font size change in my sidebar (just under my Netflix movies). I’m tired of things “breaking” in different browsers.
I’m currently working with several different themes. I’m very fond of the previous 2 themes I had, but I’d like to move forward instead of back. For me, it’s a challenge to make all my pages work together well. Hope to have it up and running before our FL trip in 3 weeks. That’s right, baby – sun, surf, and sand!
Haven’t updated in a while – look for an audioblog before the holiday. Really, I mean it this time.
man in black
Just as Superman Returns to movie theaters Wednesday, the teaser trailer for Spider-Man 3 is released today.
can’t wait – this looks really good!

New Digg v3 Launched
Digg, the social news website by Kevin Rose and his band at Revision3, launched its redesign today. The site looks fantastic and now features more than technology news, including world, business, and entertainment (tech is still default).

flix update
Without A Paddle – 3 out of 5 stars – funny, but not hilarious.
Taking Lives – 3 out of 5 stars – I kinda saw the twist coming. CL really liked it.
Wolf Creek – 2 out of 5 stars – Horror film based on actual events. I didn’t really watch (I hate horror films, much less those that actually happened). The tortured screams were nauseating enough.
Waiting… – 4 out of 5 stars – Hilarious film on waiting tables. Prepare to be disgusted while watching this one!
Good Night, and Good Luck – 4 out of 5 stars – Fascinating story driven by David Strathairn and a fine supporting cast.
X2: X-Men United – 4 out of 5 stars – Better than the original; why I waited 3 years to watch this, I’ll never know.
most inspiring movies
The American Film Institute celebrates 100 years of film by counting down the top 100 most inspiring movies.
My personal top 10:
take me back tuesday #75
Musical Firsts: (How many can you remember)
First CD/Album Purchased: Private Eyes – Daryl Hall and John Oates (cassette)
First Concert: U2, The Joshua Tree Tour, Nov 87, Hampton VA
First Over 21 Show: Hmm … don’t think I’ve ever been to one of those.
First Musical Obsession: VH
First Musical Crush: Debbie Gibson (she was so cute in her rarely-seen “Staying Together” music video)
First Musical/Musical Movie: Grease (saw the movie at the drive-in)
First Stereo: a Fisher dual-cassette boombox (detachable speakers and high-speed dubbing, baby!)
First Portable Device/Player: a Sony Walkman with a 3-band graphic equalizer. It was pretty cool back in the 7th grade, even though it weighed a ton.
First Musical Format Owned (i.e. LP, Cassette, 8 Track, CD): LP
First 45/CD Single Purchased: Eye of The Tiger – Survivor

“History Repeats Day” courtesy of Blogdrive Insanity
1. Name your three favorite cover songs.
- You Really Got Me – Van Halen (originally by The Kinks)
- Stone Cold Crazy – Metallica (originally by Queen)
- Voodoo Child (Slight Return) – Stevie Ray Vaughn & Double Trouble (originally by The Jimi Hendrix Experience)
2. What’s one artist, concert or musical era that you’d like to have been alive to see, or see again if you saw it in the past?
Van Halen with David Lee Roth
3. What’s one history lesson that you think a certain band or musician, or all musicians, should quit repeating?
I think Eddie Van Halen needs to get a grip, relax, and starting making great music again with WHOMEVER. I’m tired of nothing happening in the VH camp due to legal crap. I just wanna hear Ed wail on the guitar.
4. Name a band that’s not together anymore (members can be alive or dead) that you would absolutely love to see reform.
Without a doubt, The Beatles.
update 061106
This past week was probably the busiest, craziest, and undoubtedly the most stressful one for the IT department. The billing department has been getting kicked out of their systems repeatedly (on average, 4 an hour, and some users 3-4 times a day). Then Wednesday, all our servers somehow lost power, taking the entire network down for nearly an hour. Users are now functioning, but we spent the next 3 days trying to put out recurring fires thanks to the big outage. When I went home Friday, outgoing e-mail to external addresses was still not working. We hope this week will be better.
Very summerlike here with temps averaging in the 80′s. We finally got some much needed rain last night and today with thunderstorms galore.
Sleep – I crave it now more than ever. My bedtime has always been between 930 and 10. I never really adjusted the bedtime since I started working earlier. So I sleep in on the weekends. I probably need to take a power nap when I get home. But that cuts into Salem’s time for walking (and for crying out loud, we can’t have that!).
Cardinals baseball – haven’t watched much lately. Never enough time, and when I do watch, they lose. Albert Pujols is on the DL list, and the team’s play has been horrendous lately. However, I did get tickets from a coworker for a game in August. So even if they’re not playing well, at least we get to check out the new stadium!

friday feast #79
Appetizer – About how much money did you spend on gas this week?
None. I’m at half a tank, and it’s currently 2.88. It helps that I only drive 6 miles a day to and from work.
Soup – What is your favortite brand of toilet paper?
I don’t know. Don’t squeeze the Charmin.
Salad – When was the last time you discovered something that you thought was pure genius?
The lightbox javascript feature. However, I’ve disabled it since it bogged down the performance of this site. I still think I can put it to great use on this site, but it will have to be very lightweight.
Main Course – What is the least amount of sleep you can get by on per night?
Maybe 4 hours. But that’s pushing it; I’ll be a zombie all day.
Dessert – June is a popular month for weddings. Do you know anyone who is getting married this month?
No. But CL and I will celebrate our 6th anniversary on the 22nd.
The "5-Second Rule" Rules
This cracks me up.
Researchers at the University of Illinois say the so-called “5-Second Rule” isn’t a myth. They say when you drop food on the floor, it’s still safe to eat if you pick it up within five seconds.
Just be wary of where you drop that potato chip.

friday five – 80's
I’m late with this, but what the heck …
1) Favourite movie of the 1980s? Ferris Bueller’s Day Off – As much as I hate to admit it, I was, still am, and always will be Cameron.
2) Favourite musician/group of the 1980s? Van Halen, and I like both Dave and Sammy.
3) Favourite TV show of the 1980s? At the time, “Who’s The Boss?” (I had a thing for Alyssa Milano). These days, I would say “Cheers”.
4) Favourite invention of the 1980s? At the time, the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). These days, I’d have to say the compact disc.
5) World Event from the 1980s that stands out in your mind? The Challenger explosion.
