i feel fine
</p> <p></p>and
It occurred to me that my posts the past 2 weeks might be depressing to some. In reality, all is well. Yes, work sucks, but it’s a part of life that I’m dealing with. Blogging allows me to let off some steam and vent in ways that I normally can’t do in the workplace. That was the whole point of me starting a blog in the first place a year and a half ago.
And I should clarify – my new job doesn’t suck; it’s working the old one on top of it that sucks. But there will be relief coming soon. The helpdesk position is no longer posted, and there have been applicants. For the past 3 days, I’ve separated myself from the helpdesk environment to focus on my analyst duties. I’ve actually been able to finish some jobs (and enjoyed doing them!).
The earache I complained about is real. I went to the doctor Wednesday to get some real drugs. It turns out that I have a blockage in my left ear canal caused by my allergies (here in the midwest, my allergies are worse in the fall than they are in the spring; it’s like being in Bizarro world where everything’s backwards). There’s a lot of pressure in the left ear, similar to when you’re flying, but on a rather painful level.
So to clear it up, I’m sticking a nasal spray up my nose, taking Zyrtec for the congestion, ibuprofen for the pain, and performing valsalvas on the hour (I feel like I’m trying to blow out my brains through my ears). There’s still pain, but not as bad as it was a few days ago. I need to be consistent with the get-well plan he prescribed to me.
So it may seem like I’m projecting that it’s the end of the world, but I’m really doing just fine.
[Thanks, Dad, for the memorial cards, the bracelet (thanks to Jeff for giving him an extra), and your encouraging words.]
