the very last one in a very long line

back in black

Well, it’s taken a week for me to transfer my domain and my files to GoDaddy. I pray I don’t have to do this again anytime soon, because it’s not an easy process. I nearly forgot to back up my database; I seriously believed I lost all my original posts and thought I would be starting all over. Then I played the waiting game before my previous registrar would approve my transfer request to GoDaddy. Then I had some issues with installing WordPress; I hadn’t done it since I first established this blog 2 years ago, and I don’t recall it being difficult the first time around.

And as much as I loved the Cutline theme, I felt it was time for a change. Trying to find a theme that fits all your needs is such a challenge. There are so many themes out there – slick, cool, pretty, simple, complex, fancy, ugly, difficult, nice, etc. But even the best ones out there had one piece missing that just killed the way my blog functioned. I finally settled on Ygoent. It’s simple, and after Cutline’s white minimalistic look, I needed to go dark again.

The past week has been a rollercoaster ride. It started with me trading my day off on Monday so I could attend interface training for the lab. I ended up feeling really, really small when we found we couldn’t do any testing because the lab order table (LOT) had not been revised to match the test codes in the new system. This is my responsibility. Now it wasn’t completely my fault. I’d just been given access to modify the LOT late the week before. There’s no way I could’ve had it done by interface training (nor did I know it was necessary). Needless to say, even though I wasn’t completely responsible, IT looked bad. I’m thankful that the implementation consultant was very kind and accommodating given the circumstances. I attended the other 2 days of training, but I learned nothing since I spent it coding the LOT. In fact, that’s pretty much all I’ll be doing for the next 2 weeks.

What else happened this week? I got a haircut Tuesday (I asked for a trim, she buzzed it all off). Daniel had his final Fine Arts Festival at his junior high (he’s a member of the chorus). We braved a little chill and wind at my friend’s “drive-in” theater in his backyard on Friday night. And now that I’ve got ‘junior’ back up and running, I plan to resume blogging on a regular basis (including 365).
