Sophia

my girl's growing up too fast

Sophia tells me about it

13 to 14 months

13 to 14 monthsAgain, I apologize for being late. Hopefully all the other photosets from this summer will help ease that pain. Here’s Sophia’s latest photo set. You’ll notice there’s not a lot of photos in this batch. After the Branson trip, I somehow forgot about my camera. If you peruse through the other photos, you’ll find shots of Sophia that aren’t included in this one. How is Sophia? She’s growing up before our very eyes. She walks everywhere she can, she’s quite the little talker, and she’s got a bit of a temper. She’s a gadget girl, loving my iPods and cell phone. She’s also a big Backyardigans fan. She likes Playhouse Disney (“it’s the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, come inside, it’s fun inside”, sung by They Might Be Giants, of all people). But we’ve noticed it’s the music in these shows that gets her interested. Did I mention she likes Metallica’s “Enter Sandman”? I hope I can get a video of her banging her head before the song gets too old for her.

12 to 13 months

12 to 13 months
So sorry that this is over 2 weeks late! The end of June and beginning of July found us entertaining my family from Connecticut, who were in town to celebrate Sophia’s 1st birthday. Then came a busy week back to work for Christine and I. Immediately following that was a family trip to Branson (Sophia’s first road trip). All in all, since the end of June, I had taken over 1300 photos, and it’s been a challenge to weed thru them, sort them, and upload them. Click on the image above to see Sophia’s latest photo set. More photo sets coming soon, including the Gateway Arch, Busch Stadium, the All-Star FanFest, and Branson – stay tuned!

11 to 12 months

11 to 12 months
Sophia celebrated her 1st birthday this past Tuesday! Click on the image above to see photos of this event as well as images from the past month. She is showing her personality (good and bad) more and more each day. Sophia’s so cute to watch her learn and react to everything around her. She’s really into my techie stuff – my iPod, my cell phone, my laptop, the TiVo remote control. I can’t take photos or video with my cell phone without her wanting to use it. And she knows the remote controls the TV because when the channel changes, she looks around to see who did it; when she pushes buttons, she looks up to see if anything happened. She’s not walking yet, but hopefully soon (she’s balancing better while standing). And deciphering her chitchat is a challenge; I think she’s talking Japanese.

Happy Birthday Sophia!

10 to 11 months

10 to 11 months
Sophia is less than 30 days away from being 1 year old. I cannot believe how fast time flies; a year ago, this past weekend, Christine had her baby shower. Now, Sophia is 11 months old, and she’s one smart cookie. She points to things in the house when you ask her where they are. She started climbing stairs just the other day. She’s not quite standing on her own, but she’s pretty close. Sophia’s eating habits have somewhat changed; she’s gone from baby food to big girl food and seems she won’t look back. And she’s been doing some cute things that you have to see to believe (I hope to have video of them soon). Click on Sophia’s image above for her latest set.

Happy Easter!

Sophia would like to wish everyone a Happy Easter!
Sophia & the Easter Bunny

9 to 10 months

9 to 10 months
Sorry for being somewhat late in uploading these photos. I’ve been waiting on a planned visit with a certain bunny. I’ve also been mulling over options for the “future use” or purpose of this site. Sophia has her 2 bottom teeth coming in. When in a good mood, she’s quite chatty (thanks to Tammy and her coworker for the new adjective!). When she’s not in a good mood, she doesn’t want to eat and is a little on the whiny side. To see her latest pictures, click on the pretty face above.

8 to 9 months

8 to 9 monthsIt was 9 months ago today that Sophia was born. She’s certainly growing up fast! In the past month, she’s excelled in her crawling (she likes being chased). Sophia has also been talking up a storm, blowing raspberries, and nodding her head. She’s been saying her own variation of E-I-E-I-O (from “Old MacDonald”; hers is more like “aiyaiyaiyai”), and she’s just started saying “Mama” (although she doesn’t stop: “Mamamamamama…”). Click on the photo for her latest photo set.

7 to 8 months

7 to 8 months
Sophia turns 8 months old today! Baby girl is crawling forwards and can now pull herself up to stand! Click the photo above to see her in the past month. And to see her in action, click here.

6 to 7 months

surrounded by gifts
Sorry for the delay in updates and photos. This photo set is what everyone’s been waiting for – Sophia’s first Christmas. She did well and enjoyed opening her gifts, despite fighting a fever and an ear infection. Sophia is doing much better these days, learning to make different sounds and moving around a room (even though she crawls backwards). I’m trying to get back into the routine of photographing my little girl (since I went through an 11-day drought). As always, click the photo above to see more of Sophia.

Sophia's Baptism

Daddy, Mommy, Sophia, Father Jim
Sophia was baptized last Saturday. Mom, Dad, my sister Rochelle and her daughter Jasmine drove down from the Northeast to visit and be in attendance. Rochelle sponsored Sophia as her godmother, while my dad stood in for my cousin Jeff (who could not attend) as godfather. Upon seeing the priest prior to the service, Sophia cried. But she quickly got over it and did very well throughout the ceremony! Click the image above for the photo set.

Coming real soon: photos from Sophia’s baptism! Stay tuned!

20 to 22 weeks

watching Playhouse Disney
Click the image above for the latest photos of Sophia. Pretty girl saw the doctor this past week, measured at 25.75 inches long, weighed in at 17 lbs 8.5 oz, and had her second round of shots. I know I said this before, but I hope to have some overdue video clips sometime soon.

17 to 19 weeks

more tummy time
Hello all! Hope life is treating you well (despite the cluster that currently exists in the real world). Here’s something that I’m sure will bring a smile to your face … the latest photos of our little girl Sophia. She is doing well, “talking” and responding and giggling a little more every day. Click on the photo to see the latest set; if you’ve missed any of the previous sets, you can check out her collection.

update 091908

Just trying to get ya up to speed …

Never a dull moment at work. The case management application that I’ve been working on since August goes live next week. We completed the build of the live system this week, and I must say, I’m quite proud at how much we got done in such a short time. This on top of all other requests from lab, respiratory, registration, and administration. And in October, case management gets another system that I’ll be assigned to as well. Surprisingly, I’m taking it all in stride and loving it. Not too many people in my department can say the same thing, and I guess I’m fortunate.

Sophia will be 16 weeks old on Monday (4 months old in October). We believe she has allergies. The recent cool weather has prompted us to have our windows open in the house at night (excluding Sophia’s room). However, she woke up again the other morning with congestion. So we’ve gone back to keeping the windows closed and using the A/C. She seems to be slimming down (her belly isn’t quite there anymore). While awake, she doesn’t like to lay back in your arms anymore; she’ll pull herself in the upright position (and she’ll let you know about it if you try to put her back down). She’s doing well in daycare; teachers say the noise doesn’t bother her as much as it used to when she first started. She’s sleeping all night too, and waking up about the same time each morning (just in time to get ready for school). We haven’t taken very many pictures since Sophia started daycare, but I plan to post what we have this weekend.

And yes, I’m trying a new theme for my blog. It still needs work, but I’ll get to it when I get to it. What I like is the pics page is working and looking better than ever. I still have to come up with new header images.

update 090208

So many things going on, it’s difficult to keep up. I spent most of my vacation time caring for Sophia. I enjoyed it tremendously, and I wish I could have another week at home with her. Well, like her mom, I’d rather be at home with her all the time. She started daycare today, her 3 month birthday. The teachers said she was very good considering she was with strangers. With the daycare center right across from my workplace, I can come and go as I please.

I only made it over there once today; a lot going on in the world of IT. Tomorrow, I begin a second round of training with a new case management application that goes live in 3 weeks. Once that’s up and running, I begin another 6 to 8 week implementation with another case management app. On top of that, I’m dealing with charges, lab cleanup, and other clinical system issues. Despite the busy-ness of it all, I’m comfortable and content.

It’s easy to forget things when you’re busy. So I want to take a moment to remember my uncle Teddy, who passed away 2 years ago on September 1. You are still missed, Tito Teddy. Much love to Tita Volet, Bong, and Jeff.

I also want to wish my niece Sarah a Happy Birthday :) She turned 19 today!

so cute

7 to 9 weeks

100_2853
Again, I’m sorry for the lack of updates. Sophia’s 10 and a half weeks old now, and she weighs 14 lbs 2 oz and is 23.5 in long. At her 2 month checkup this week, she received her first set of shots. Needless to say, Mommy and Daddy cried along with Sophia as the nurse stuck our little girl. Sophia’s doing fine and sleeping better at night. She looks at everything with interest, recognizes voices, and is smiling more often now. She coos and tells us wonderful stories. With Christine going back to work in less than 2 weeks, Sophia will be going to day care soon. Click the photo above for the latest of Sophia. I reorganized her pics on Flickr into various photo sets so people won’t have to sift through the ones they’ve already seen. But if you want to see all her pictures again, you can certainly do so by checking out her entire collection on Flickr.

Sophia – 5 to 6 weeks

Sorry for the lack of updates. Just been very busy taking care of Lil Bit. Click on the photo above for some recent pictures of Sophia. I’ll try to update more in the coming weeks.
