Sophia – Summer 2010
I know, I know. I went all summer without posting updates or photos of our itty bitty princess Sophia. Life moves pretty fast, and I haven’t had time to stop and look around. So here’s the best I can come up with. These photos date back to her birthday in June and lead us right through the end of August. I have to note that these include shots taken by other family members (I went over a month of not using my camera). Enjoy! There will be another set coming soon of our recent visit to the Magic House in St Louis.
22 to 24 months
I’m so late with this. Life continues it’s crazy pace, and it’s a struggle to keep up. Lolo and Lola visited a couple of weeks ago, their first visit since June 2009. Sophia obviously didn’t remember them, but it didn’t take long for her to warm up to them. They were here to help celebrate Sophia’s 2nd birthday, and I don’t think Sophia would have it any other way. She’s shown them she knows her colors, looks for buses whenever she’s in the car, loves the Backyardigans, and can’t wait to go to Walt Disney World. She was sad by the time Lolo and Lola left, and each day since, she looks and asks for them. Fortunately, they’ll be visiting again along with Sophia’s cousin Jasmine later this summer.
Cards vs Mets 041810
We took Sophia to her first ballgame Sunday night. Grandma, Grandpa, Daniel and his friend Adam also came along to see the Cardinals take on the NY Mets. Sophia enjoyed just about every bit of the game: the ride over on the Metrolink (“Choo Choo!”), the music, Fredbird (“Tweet Tweet!”), the fireworks from Rasmus’ homer, and Cracker Jacks. We can’t wait to take her again. As always, click the image above for the photo set (I didn’t take many photos; I wanted to enjoy the game).
19 to 20 months

So far, 2010 has proven to be a very busy year. I’m involved with the biggest project of my career (new clinical system for the hospital), and it’s dictating a very hectic, chaotic, and at times, frantic pace. CL is also working a crazy schedule; not a lot of time is spent together. Unfortunately, I’ve not taken advantage of these few moments to take pictures. We did have the good fortune of taking Sophia to her first Disney show, Disney Live! Mickey’s Rockin’ Road Show at the Chaifetz Arena in St. Louis yesterday. It was a test to see if Sophia is ready for these kinds of shows as well as a prep for our planned trip to Walt Disney World later this year. We weren’t sure if it would be too loud, or if the occasional darkness would be scary, or if she would be intimated by all the people. Turns out, the answers are “no”, “no”, and “no”! Sophia loved every bit of it. She recognized most of the characters, and she danced and clapped with enthusiasm. Click on her picture for her latest photo set including those from the Disney show.
Sophia's 1st trip to the zoo

Last Monday, both Christine and I were off, and it was a beautiful day. We decided to take advantage of the weather and took Sophia to the St. Louis Zoo. She enjoyed seeing the animals, talking about them and pointing them out to us. However, she didn’t want to have anything to do with touching the animals in the Children’s Zoo. Click the image above for the photo set. And below are two links to videos of Christine and Sophia visiting the goats.
16 to 17 months

Here is Sophia’s latest photo set (click on the image above). She is very active, walking, almost running. Sophia can identify things by pointing, and she knows what you’re talking about when you ask her something. She’s also quite the little worker bee; she’ll put things in the trash if you ask her to, and Grandma has her doing the floors in her kitchen. In these photos, you’ll see Sophia when she was in the ER with the flu, trying her hand at Beatles Rock Band, posing for the fall, and in her Halloween costume (despite not trick-or-treating this year).

14 to 15 months (and then some)

Click on the image to see the latest of our little girl. Sophia’s doing well in the toddler room of her daycare. Her teachers say she talks a lot and plays hard. That probably explains the better nights we’ve been having at home, much so that she’s not relying on the bottle anymore. Sophia is a big Toy Story fan too (don’t think she can sit through the upcoming 3D double feature, though). I introduced this to her several weeks back, and I’ve seen it more times than I have collectively since it was released 14 years ago. Sophia waves “Hi” and “Bye” now (as opposed to opening and closing a fist). In fact, when we go places, she waves to everyone she sees. What a sweet girl!
12 to 13 months

So sorry that this is over 2 weeks late! The end of June and beginning of July found us entertaining my family from Connecticut, who were in town to celebrate Sophia’s 1st birthday. Then came a busy week back to work for Christine and I. Immediately following that was a family trip to Branson (Sophia’s first road trip). All in all, since the end of June, I had taken over 1300 photos, and it’s been a challenge to weed thru them, sort them, and upload them. Click on the image above to see Sophia’s latest photo set. More photo sets coming soon, including the Gateway Arch, Busch Stadium, the All-Star FanFest, and Branson – stay tuned!
11 to 12 months

Sophia celebrated her 1st birthday this past Tuesday! Click on the image above to see photos of this event as well as images from the past month. She is showing her personality (good and bad) more and more each day. Sophia’s so cute to watch her learn and react to everything around her. She’s really into my techie stuff – my iPod, my cell phone, my laptop, the TiVo remote control. I can’t take photos or video with my cell phone without her wanting to use it. And she knows the remote controls the TV because when the channel changes, she looks around to see who did it; when she pushes buttons, she looks up to see if anything happened. She’s not walking yet, but hopefully soon (she’s balancing better while standing). And deciphering her chitchat is a challenge; I think she’s talking Japanese.
